Current muhtar family
The Evgin family includes Recep Evgin, Mesudiye's current muhtar (in office since 2024), and Ali Evgin who played defender for Mesudiyespor in the 1980s.
The Evgin family is the lineage that represents the current administration of the village of Mesudiye. With the election of Recep Evgin as muhtar (village head) in the local elections of 31 March 2024, the family took on an active role in the governance of the village. Considered together with its membership of the ihtiyar heyeti (village council of elders) and its past contributions to sport, the family is present in more than one dimension of village life.
Muhtar 2024– (in office)
Recep Evgin was elected muhtar of the village of Mesudiye in the local elections of 31 March 2024. With the office he took over from Ali Beki Tezcan (2019–2024), he represents the village's current administration.
The 2024 local elections held throughout Turkey were part of a large democratic process that covered all units of local government, including the village muhtar offices.
Member of the village council of elders
Kamil Evgin, one of the current members of the village council of elders, reinforces the family's weight in the village administration alongside Recep Evgin's office as muhtar. The council of elders is an official institution that, as the advisory organ of the village muhtar, gives direction to the muhtar's decisions and serves as a bridge between the villagers and the muhtar.
The fact that both the muhtar and a member of the council of elders come from the same family strengthens the family's active presence in the village administration. This is an expression of the many-sided trust that the villagers feel towards the Evgin family.
Mesudiyespor defender — 1980s
Ali Evgin, who played in defence for the Mesudiyespor football team of the 1980s, is one of the players of the golden age of village football. Sharing the same squad with captain Zeki Erdoğdu, goalkeeper Nazif Say and the Gönen brothers, Ali Evgin contributed to the team's defensive depth.
In Mesudiyespor's squad of this period, players from more than one family came together: Erdoğdu (captain), Say (goalkeeper), Gönen (the defender twins), Evgin (defence) and Ay (player). This diversity reflects the unifying social role that village football played for different families.
The Evgin family is one of the families that contribute to the village life of Mesudiye in three different dimensions: muhtar, member of the council of elders and football player. This variety shows that the family is active not only in the administrative field but also in the sporting and social dimensions of village culture.
